HIEU MINH NGUYEN is an Asian-American creative based out of the Midwest. Hieu’s work often centers around the queer diaspora, creating safe(r) spaces, dissection of nostalgia, identity, family narratives, reclamation of shame, and the intersection of culture, gender, sexuality. His gripping and intimate work has been described as an astounding testament to the power and necessity of confession.

Recipient of 2017 NEA fellowship for poetry, Hieu is a Kundiman fellow and a poetry editor for Muzzle Magazine. His work has appeared in PBS Newshour, Huffington Post, the Paris-American, Buzzfeed Reader, TVOne's Verses & Flow, PANK, Indiana Review, and more. His debut collection of poetry, This Way to the Sugar (Write Bloody Publishing, 2014) was named a finalist for both the Lambda Literary Award and the MN Book Award, making Hieu the youngest person to become a finalist in the MN Book Award. His second collection of poetry, Not Here, is forthcoming with Coffee House Press in 2018!
